Sculptural European Provincial Bench in Solid Wood 1900

$ 4,150
  • Description
    A long European provincial bench dating from around 1900.

    Measuring 190 cm in length, the bench has a remarkably simple and architectural construction. A single long seat with softly rounded ends rests on two carved trestle supports. The construction and visible joinery remain an important part of its character. The simplicity of the design gives the bench an unexpectedly modern presence.

    The wood has developed a great patina through many decades of use.

    A substantial and beautifully uncomplicated piece of European vernacular furniture. Could be used next to a dining table, in a hallway or as a freestanding bench within a contemporary interior.
