The so-called “Zebrano” wood -derived from tropical trees in America, Asia, and Africa, yielding striped hardwood used in cabinetwork - is known for its distinctive dark stripes reminiscent of a zebra's markings, hence the name. In this chair, the zebrano plywood structure takes centre stage, recalling designers Ingmar Relling from Norway because of the wood, and the bentwood designs of Alvar Aalto.
