Offered for sale is a pair of iconic Brazilian mid-century modern "Oscar" armchairs by Sergio Rodrigues in jacaranda wood with hand-caned backs and seats. Sergio Rodrigues was a Brazilian architect and furniture designer. This pair of armchairs date from the 1950's-1960's. Jacarandá wood structure (Brazilian hardwood, a testament to its originality), and restored cane in excellent condition. The chair was designed in 1956 and was an homage to Brazilian modernist architect Oscar Niemeyer - thus the name "Oscar" which were inspired by the the forms and structures of the federal capital Brasilia which was fully conceived and brought to life by Niemeyer. -
