Description
Beautiful set of six rare Biedermeier so called 'board chairs' from Vienna/Austria, circa 1830.
Very nice blonde book-matched cherry veneer and solid wood. T he edge of the shovels have been ebonized and polished.
Elegantly curved, conical legs. As there is no seat cushion, but a board, the legs appear longer than with other chairs, making it look unusual, but still balanced.
An additional lay-on cushion on top was sometimes used for a more comfortable seating.
This model was typical for the Biedermeier Period in Austria.
Very stabile with old well preserved mesh. Restored condition, hand-polished with shellac (French polished).
Dimensions:
H 93 cm / 36.61 in
W 45 cm / 17.72 in
