Description
This set of six dining chairs reflects a disciplined exploration of material contrast and structural precision characteristic of late Brazilian modern design. Each chair is composed around a continuous chromed steel frame that arcs from leg to backrest in a single, fluid gesture, establishing both visual lightness and structural clarity.
The seats and backs are upholstered in black leather, channel-stitched in horizontal bands that articulate proportion and reinforce the vertical sweep of the silhouette. The gently reclined backrest and subtly cantilevered seat create a measured suspension, allowing comfort to emerge directly from the geometry rather than applied cushioning. The repetition of line across all six chairs produces a rhythmic architectural presence when arranged in sequence.
At the base, solid Brazilian hardwood feet ground the composition. Their warm tonal depth provides a deliberate counterpoint to the cool precision of the chromed steel, reflecting a modernist dialogue between industry and craft. The juxtaposition of materials—leather, steel, and hardwood—remains legible, each component expressing its structural role with honesty.
The chromed frames have been professionally restored, presenting a clean, reflective finish. The leather upholstery remains in excellent condition, maintaining its suppleness and crisp channeling.
Architecturally composed and materially articulate, this set exemplifies the Brazilian modernist commitment to balance—where engineering, proportion, and refined materiality converge in a seating form of enduring clarity. -
