A beautiful set of five armchairs in bent wicker and bamboo – Italian Manufacture, Dal Vera, 1960s
Wicker, bamboo, and malacca have long been favored in furniture design due to their abundance and ease of heat bending, allowing them to adapt to evolving trends and styles. In the 1960s, many manufacturers explored this material, creating pieces that seamlessly furnished verandas, gardens, and stylish indoor spaces.
This set of five armchairs (available individually) was crafted in Italy by Dal Vera. Their structure is characterized by a flowing sequence of curves that shape the supporting frame, which holds the generous and inviting seat—easily enhanced with custom cushions for added comfort.
When paired with a matching coffee table, these armchairs form an elegant lounge set, ideal for entertaining guests or relaxing with a book, tea, or dessert. The distinctive backrest, composed of closely spaced, curved bamboo canes, makes these chairs particularly suited for central placement in a room, where their finely assembled construction and refined forms can be fully appreciated.
An inspired design choice is the substantial thickness of the armrests—a seemingly simple detail that elevates the overall aesthetic and underscores the thoughtful design behind these remarkable pieces.
