Set of Four 17th century English William & Mary Chairs

  • Description
    A very rare, superbly carved set of four side chairs in the manner of Daniel Marot (architect to William III), attributed to Thomas Roberts (who was awarded the position of chief supplier to the Royal household in 1686).
    The chairs bear various museum and collection labels leading to a possible provenance to the Kennedy family of Culzean and Cassilis.
    A pair of almost identical chairs are in the Cleveland Museum of Art and an other one is in the collection of the Niederla?ndisches Museum, Amsterdam.
