Description
A set of six early 19th century neoclassical gilt and gesso decorated dining chairs. Upholstered rectangular geometric backs featuring stepped sides and flared tops outlined in gilt with inset gesso and foliate gilt ribbons, and decorative leaf carved scallops to underside of back. Seats with raised hessian upholstery with rolled edges, standing on tapered reeded columns also picked out in gilt, with conforming gesso and gilt ribbon aprons. Italy, circa 1810. 18 1/2" wide x 20" deep x 34 " high x 18" seat height.
