Silvered metal and red velvet throne chair
Indian, c. 1880
Height 138cm, width 66cm, depth 66cm
This fine Indian throne chair would have been popular in Europe as well as India in the 19th Century. The detailed silvered metal chair frame has been hammered to create beautiful Indian motifs, including two lions to the front. The back rest and seat cushion made with red velvet. The piece, which serves as an excellent example of the interplay between British and Indian styles, would suit a collector interested in Anglo-Indian artefacts. -
