Swedish Brutalist Set of Solid Wood Chairs, Sweden ca 1940s

$ 4,180
  • Description
    “Sverige brutal” or Swedish Brutal was a pre-eminent design movement not only in architecture, but also in 20th century furniture design. In more recent years, a new appreciation for brutalism has emerged, and in today's digital world, brutalist furniture's rough, angular nature satisfies the need for natural simplicity in our surroundings.

    These chairs are inherently simplistic, both in visual and technical terms. Yet, the design is very balanced with well-thought-out proportions. The solid Swedish wood defines the look with a natural pattern and texture. The wooden stretchers between the legs stand out, separating the design from other wooden chair designs of the era. Wooden chairs like these have numerous advantages, starting with the material’s natural beauty. Furthermore, they can easily match up with the interiors of any home no matter if it has a modern or contemporary setting, not to mention that wooden furniture is extremely resilient and requires very little maintenance. Wood is a long-lasting natural material that can stand constant usage, and can last for generations with minimum care. This set of brutalist chairs is perfect to bring a touch of organic simplicity into any space, and by combining the chairs with furniture made from steel or glass, the natural beauty of the wood will stand out even more. This set will surely add warmth and character to any room.

    From architectural descriptions to individual pieces of furniture, materials, and colour palettes, brutalist style seems to have earned a permanent spot on the décor trend list. Today, we're seeing brutalist furniture emerge through statement pieces like the chairs of this set, that successfully and effectively can blend into a variety of design styles.
