Description
Mid-century design is typically characterized by clean, simple lines and honest use of quality materials. It also generally includes minimal, tasteful use of decorative embellishments. This sofa is a lovely example from this design period.
The design of this sofa is gentle and elegant, and formed from timeless, refined materials. The welcoming open body is enhanced by the elegant light upholstery. The arms blend into the back with edges that slightly curve outwards, opening up the design visually. The three seat cushions section the sofa and add to the inviting look, while also providing great sitting comfort. The inviting body is supported by an expertly crafted wooden frame with tapered wooden legs that are splayed for structural purposes.
Today, mid-century furniture is sought after by collectors for its classic look, storied design and solid quality, exemplified by this sofa. With its restrained aesthetic, it creates a sense of tranquillity while the masterful sense of materials and proportions guarantee functionality and comfort.
