The name “evolution” suggests an elemental, primitive concept: a simple beginning for more complex ideas that evolve from it. The two legs of this piece are identical, held together with a simple notched joint. Their sculptural shape could be a fin or the webbed foot of some prehistoric creature. The basic “X” design is about as old as the art of furniture making and has been elaborated on and embellished for millennia. Its inherent beauty is firmly embedded in the designers’ human aesthetic hard drive. -
