Description
Pair of 1970s Trix & Robert Haussmann for Knoll 2-seat sofa settee. This pair is made in black leather and mirror. All original collectors condition. The Mirror Sofa and Chairs is a furniture collection designed by German architect and designer, Trix & Robert Haussmann for the American furniture company Knoll in the early 1970s. The collection is known for its sleek, modernist design and use of mirrors as a key decorative element.
The Mirror Sofa and Chairs feature a minimalist design with clean lines and a low profile. The frame is made of chrome-plated steel and is covered with mirrored glass panels, which give the furniture a reflective quality. The seating is upholstered in black leather, which contrasts nicely with the mirrored frame.
The Mirror Sofa and Chairs were designed to be statement pieces, and they were well-received when they were first introduced. However, due to their high price tag and the difficulty in maintaining the mirrored glass, the collection was not produced for very long.
Today, the Mirror Sofa and Chairs are considered iconic examples of 1970s modernist design, and they are highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts. They have been featured in exhibitions at major museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and they continue to inspire contemporary furniture designers. - More Information
