Description
Set of 6 Jean Prouvé standard SP chairs in teak brown and red for Vitra. In like new and unused condition with original Vitra boxes, stickers and “Certificates of Authenticity”. The standard SP chair is a modernized variation on an early masterpiece by the French designer and engineer Jean Prouvé. Originally designed in 1934, the standard evolved into one of the most famous classics of the French 'constructeur'. The seat and backrest of this understated, iconic chair are available in various types of high grade ASA plastic and, like the metal frame, comes in a variety of different colors. Price is for the set. Materials: Base: Red fine structure, glides brown. Backrest and seat: Teak brown. Glides: Hard glides (standard). Dimensions: W 16.5”, H 32.75” Chairs take the most stress on their back legs, where they bear the weight of the user's upper body. The engineer, architect and designer Jean Prouvé incorporated this simple insight in his design for the standard chair: while steel tubing su¦ces for the front legs, since they are subject to less stress, the back legs are made of voluminous hollow sections that transfer the primary weight to the floor. Standard SP (Siège en Plastique) builds a bridge from past to present, giving this iconic chair a contemporary look without altering its form: made of robust plastic, the seat surface and backrest of standard SP come in a palette of finely modulated colors. The durable matte finish of the powder-coated bases matches the plastic surfaces of the chair.
