Description
Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron are celebrated for their distinct contributions to postwar French design, championing a unique blend of rustic warmth and modernist functionality. Working under the brand Votre Maison, the duo became known for their commitment to high-quality materials and thoughtful, expressive forms. Their pieces from the mid-20th century stand as icons of French domestic design. This "Dominique" two-seater sofa perfectly illustrates their refined approach.
The sofa features a solid oak frame that showcases the duo’s signature attention to craftsmanship and preferred material. The clean lines and thoughtful proportions offer the sofa architectural rhythm, while the silhouette remains confident and timeless. The generous seat and back cushions are upholstered in a textured, off-white fabric that complements the warmth of the oak and emphasizes the piece's textural appeal. Padding can be similarly found on the armrests, providing additional comfort and contributing to the sitters’ relaxation. The back is constructed out of polymer cords weaved through the oak frame, both flexible and stable. Every detail, from the precise joinery to the subtly contoured lines, demonstrates the designers' mastery of blending comfort with a strong visual identity, emblematic of Guillerme et Chambron.
From their establishment of Votre Maison, Guillerme et Chambron significantly influenced how to blend functional and aesthetic choices. The “Dominique” sofa model effortlessly embodies the soul of French mid-century design, its allure and elegance will make a stunning addition to any interior.
