Description
Designer: Ward Bennett
Brickel Associates
USA - Circa 1970s
Dimensions: 34.5" H x 24.5" W x 29" D Seat 16.5" H
Condition: Newly Upholstered.
An exquisite pair of Ward Bennett scissor lounge chairs, designed for Brickel Associates circa 1970s. Originally conceived in 1964, Ward Bennett (1917-2003) drew inspiration from the hammock-style deck chairs of the grand 19th-century ocean liners, creating a design that exudes both sophistication and comfort.
These scissor chairs boast solid ash frames, finished in a warm black stain that enhances the natural beauty of the wood. The chairs have been newly upholstered in a luxurious stone-colored woven chenille fabric, reminiscent of boucle, providing a beautiful textural contrast to the sleek black frames. This fresh upholstery, coupled with new foam throughout, ensures a comfortable and supportive seating experience.
Each chair is designed with a curved seat and backrest, offering an inviting, low-slung silhouette that cradles the body. The armless design enhances their sleek profile, making them an elegant addition to any modern living space. Plastic glides on each chair protect your floors while allowing for easy movement.
Measuring 34.5” H x 24.5” W x 29” D, with a seat height of 16.5”, these chairs are not only visually appealing but also practical, fitting seamlessly into a variety of interior settings. Ward Bennett's innovative designs have always been celebrated for their blend of form and function, and these scissor lounge chairs are a perfect example of his genius. Whether placed in a contemporary living room, a stylish study, or a chic bedroom, they are sure to elevate the aesthetic of any space.
