Description
This pair of armchairs reflects the fine craftsmanship and modern aesthetic of 20th century furniture manufacturer, Westbergs Möbler. With sheepskin upholstery and a shapely silhouette (reminiscent of Royere’s Oeuf design), these armchairs are both lavish and inviting. Westbergs Möbler got its start when a Swedish carpenter, Axel Andersson, opened a modest furniture factory in Tranås in 1911. The company gained a reputation for high-end, modern furniture. By the 1960s, its furnishings were in demand all over Sweden. Westbergs Möbler collaborated with well-known Swedish designers like Hans Erik Johansson and Arne Norell, and it furnished restaurants and hotels like Operakällaren in Stockholm, Solider Palace, Grand Hotel, and Hotel Åregården.
