Description
A commanding 18th or 17th century Italian walnut cassone, traditionally commissioned as a dowry chest to celebrate the union of two families. The solid walnut construction and hand-carved details reflect the prestige and social significance of a piece designed to hold a bride's most valued possessions.
Circa 1680-1720, this period chest is an authentic survival of the Italian Renaissance tradition where furniture served as a primary vehicle for family display.
Crafted from solid walnut with a naturally aged patina and traditional iron hardware. Rooted in the Baroque tradition, this chest embodies the formal grandeur and sturdy elegance of Italian domestic life during the 17th and 18th centuries. -
