The work of American of Martinsville, particularly pieces designed by Merton Gershun, has long appealed to us. Gershun’s restrained design language and refined proportions resulted in furniture that feels both understated and enduring.

This uncommon sideboard is among the rarer American of Martinsville pieces we have encountered. Its distinctive hardware immediately drew us in: recessed brass bail pulls sit flush within each drawer front when not in use, while a series of overlapping rings lends an unexpected decorative detail to the base. To celebrate these thoughtful design elements, each piece of hardware has been carefully restored in a light gold finish.

Crafted in ash veneer, the cabinet has been completely refinished in a rich dark cognac brown that beautifully accentuates the wood’s striking grain while providing a warm contrast to the restored hardware.
