Rare Arne Vodder 4-Drawer Dresser in Rosewood, c. 1960s

This rare rosewood dresser by Arne Vodder presents a double bank of four drawers with Vodder’s signature crescent “smile” pulls carved directly into the fronts—no added hardware, just pure form and shadow. The case is clad in richly figured rosewood with deep, chocolate and redish tones with ribbons of lighter grain; sides and top show consistent, book-matched movement. A slim, bullnose perimeter frames the facade, floating above an integrated apron and four tapered legs that visually lighten the piece.

Why it matters
Arne Vodder (1926–2009) trained under Finn Juhl at the Royal Danish Academy and later worked in Juhl’s studio. You feel that lineage here: gentle curves, human-scaled tactility, and a quiet luxury that never shouts. Vodder distilled Juhl’s sculptural language into refined, highly functional furniture—pieces prized today for their organic lines and impeccable joinery.
