Description
Rare Art Deco Chest of Drawer combined with extractable desk with six drawers and brass hardware. Signed Lingel the Famous Hungarian Furniture Factory.
This commode an elegant look offer ample storage space, is in perfect vintage condition.
The first Hungarian wooden furniture factory was founded in 1864 by Karóly Lingel.
Initially they produced wooden goods, mouldings and frames and it was not until the beginning of the 19th century that furniture production began. By 1867, the small workshop had grown so large that it produced the coronation accessories for St. Matthias Church for the coronation of Franz Joseph I. It also participated in the decoration of the Buda Castle Palace, the People's Theatre, the Gellért Hotel and the Church of St. Elizabeth in Rose Square. he factory's new catalogue of 1914 is a hallmark of its development, containing many new products and a wide selection of modern office furniture. In the mid-1920s, a decisive step was taken: modern office furniture was followed by modern home furniture. Soon they became one of the best-known furniture manufacturers in the country. Lingel broke the trends of the time in the office industry and started following the American trends, which were state-of-the-art at the time. Their furniture was not a mere imitation, but rather an adaptation of ideas combined with technical improvements. - More Information
