Description
Art Deco Walnut Cocktail Cabinet with Chrome Legs, France circa 1935
This refined French Art Deco cocktail cabinet dates to the mid 1930s and exemplifies the balance of luxury, geometry, and function that defines the period. Crafted in richly figured walnut, the cabinet features dramatic book-matched veneer panels that create a strong visual focal point across the façade. The proportions are architectural yet elegant, designed to serve as both a functional bar and a sculptural furnishing within an interior.
The central front bar compartment opens to reveal a mirrored interior with glass shelving, ideal for displaying bottles and glassware. The reflective surfaces enhance light and depth, a hallmark of sophisticated Art Deco cocktail furniture. Below, a pair of paneled doors provides enclosed storage, maintaining a clean exterior when the cabinet is closed.
Flanking side compartments offer additional storage and visual symmetry, while the cabinet is elevated on striking chrome-plated curved legs that give the piece a sense of lightness and modernity. These metal elements contrast beautifully with the warmth of the walnut and are characteristic of high-quality French design from this era.
The cabinet stands on a stepped plinth base and retains its original hardware and internal fittings. Its scale makes it suitable for placement against a wall or as a focal point within a dedicated cocktail or lounge setting. This is a versatile and highly collectible example of French Art Deco furniture, combining craftsmanship, materials, and timeless style. - More Information
