Model "290" Wooden Sideboard for Asko, Finland 1930s

This sideboard was created for Asko, the Finnish furniture manufacturing company founded in 1918 by Aukusti Asko Avonius, known for the production of high-quality furniture. By 1930 the company had developed into the largest furniture chain in Finland and the largest supplier of furniture in the Nordic countries.

The design features a symmetrical shape and offers an uncomplicated silhouette, which serves a clear purpose, yet beautiful detail; a quality that is quintessentially modern. Combining tradition and modernity, Asko created pieces with a great consideration for functionality. This sideboard is evidence of this pursuit, thanks to its streamlined aesthetic and impressive storage volume. The use of wood gives the sideboard a very calm, natural feeling. The veneer has a beautiful grain and pattern that stands out on the large surfaces that make up the sides. Condition:
In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The sideboard has recently been reconditioned. Due to the nature and age of the materials, the sideboard has some marks, scratches, and discolouration.
