Circa 1780 Walnut Buffet Deux Corps Cabinet
-
Description
This classic design was made in France during the second half of the 18th century. Originally these were used to store valuables associated with dining. Today they are often used in kitchens and dining rooms. We also see clients use them for entertainment centers with storage in living rooms and bedrooms. This piece was recently tightened and polished and is in great condition with drawers working well. One of the best indications that this piece is early is the large forged steel hinges. Later the hinges are much smaller. The hinges vanish as they are concealed in door frames about 1820. A great looking piece that would be very much at home in a less formal design scheme.
