Description
Sophisticated mid-century modern buffet cabinet or sideboard designed by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, circa 1950s–1960s. Executed in richly figured walnut, the cabinet features a clean architectural case with four central drawers flanked by spacious storage compartments behind hinged cabinet doors.
The restrained modernist form is elevated by refined details including sculptural brass hardware, beautifully matched walnut grain, fitted interior shelving, and an uncommon leather wrapped plinth base that adds both warmth and visual depth to the design. The contrast between the richly toned walnut veneer and dark leather base exemplifies Wormley’s signature balance of luxury materials and understated modernism.
Edward Wormley’s designs for Dunbar are celebrated for bridging traditional craftsmanship with modern architectural simplicity, and remain among the most collectible examples of American mid-century furniture design.
An exceptionally versatile piece suitable for use as a dining room buffet, credenza, sideboard, or media cabinet within both classic and contemporary interiors.
Retains original interior shelving and fitted drawer dividers. -
