Description
Dimensions: 36” H x 46” W x 22 ½” D
A metamorphic Dutch buffet from the 19th century, in the Biedermeier taste for graphic contrasts using beautiful thuya wood (from Morocco) and outlined in ebonized trim. This unusual case piece is known as a “klapbuffet”, which refers to its ability to expand as a dry bar or server when entertaining: flip the top upright and two small shelves unfold, two leaves on hinges swing outward to rest on hidden rails that extend from the sides. In the main body of the cabinet, three small drawers across the top retain working locks & keys and the large compartment (also with a specific key) contains a single shelf. The gorgeous thuya wood veneer has been gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to maintain the exotic color and grain. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition and message us with any questions. Four keys included.
