Edwardian, Adams Cabinet, Paint Decorated, Demilune , Inlaid Wood, England, 19th c.
Fine demi lune commode or chest in the manner of Angelica Kauffman circa 1860. Adam Revival satinwood demilune commode with beautiful hand painted decoration, daing from the latter part of the 19th Century. This item has recently been completely refinished to its original luster.
This splendid crossbanded cabinet is made of the finest quality satin wood with a striking flame effect. The top features a stunning hand painted oval panel with a sunburst floral design. The shaped cupboard door has an exquisite hand-painted oval panel to the centre in the manner of Angelica Kauffman. The panel shows a pair of Classical ladies dressed in peiord clothes within a naturalistic peaceful landscape awaking a sleeping angel.
