Elegant Venetian Urn-Shaped Bedside Cabinet with Kneeler, Mid-18th Century

An exceptional Venetian bedside cabinet from the mid-18th century, crafted in solid walnut with a fir-wood interior structure, reflecting the workmanship of Northern Italy’s finest artisan workshops. The façade is designed in a distinctive urn-shaped profile, gently curved and subtly tapered toward the base, giving the piece its graceful sculptural presence.

The molded top mirrors the cabinet’s shape, finished with a refined bullnose edge. The front is organized into three vertical sections: an upper drawer following the cabinet’s contours, fitted with a brass drop handle, and a lower door that opens to an interior storage space with a shelf.

The boldly carved, scalloped plinth rests on flattened bun feet and conceals a remarkable feature — an extendable kneeler discreetly integrated into the design. Retaining its original patina and a hand-rubbed shellac finish, this cabinet offers both beauty and function, embodying the understated elegance of 18th-century Venice.
