English “Huffer” Pine Demilune Warming Cabinet

Dimensions: 44 ¾” H x 45 ½” W x 13 ¼” D

Think of this English pine “huffer” cabinet as an antique microwave. The open back was placed in front of a lit fireplace or hearth before food and serveware were loaded through the front door to keep things warm before serving. With its open back to the fire, the tin-lined interior held heat to ensure that no meal was served cold. The paneled single door gives easy access to the contents inside. It opens with a brass handle and is secured by a rotating brass latch. The pine exterior is nicely patinated, giving us an idea of how much this cabinet was used. Today, one may use it as unique storage for dishes and serveware, linens, or anything else one might want tucked away. Its height would even make it perfect to use as a bar. The interior features two fixed shelves measuring 12” deep. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for use in your interiors. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
