Restored Florence Knoll Walnut & Maple Cabinet Model No.541 New York, 1960s
-
Description
This iconic cabinet was designed in the 1960s by Florence Knoll and manufactured by Knoll International for sale in the heart of New York City on Park Avenue. Built of a finely grained walnut, its contrast with its white doors makes for a very eye-catching cabinet. This is especially true when considering the narrow trim of the frame around the doors is equal on all four sides. The four square doors open to reveal two full-width shelves on the right, and four smaller shelves on the left. The other half of the left side also features two drawers, which work smoothly with clean interiors. The entire interior is a warm maple. The whole sits on legs which slot into the cabinet, as pictured. They are not removable.
This example has been professional restored. The old finish was stripped, sanded, and stained as needed on the top, sides and has a fresh satin lacquer with hand burnished wax. The doors are finished in a satin white enamel. Interior was lightly cleaned. Doors and drawers work well. Doors have adjustable hinges, for leveling doors as needed. -
