French 19th Century Louis XV Style Carved Oak Armoire

$ 4,500
  • Description
    Dimensions: 88 ⅞” H x 57 ⅛” W x 24” D

    A French solid oak armoire from the 19th Century, crafted in the Louis XV style with carved floral motifs. Below the jutting cornice is a frieze with flowers and sprawling vines carved into the oak with beautiful detail. More bands of flowers appear on the armoire’s two large doors, framing their panels. The doors open with their original lock and key to reveal a spacious interior with 3 fixed shelves measuring 17 ¾” deep, perfect for storing folded clothes, linens, or bulkier items. A scalloped apron stretches between the front cabriole legs of the piece, continuing the soft, organic feeling we get from the carved flowers. All throughout the armoire, we can see the wooden dowels used to secure the structure’s joints, which combine with the precise detail of the flowers as a testament to the skills of the craftsmen who built it. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for use in your interiors. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition or reach out with any questions.
