An elegant mahogany & pink marble commode from France, 19th century, in the Louis XVI style that easily fits with Empire and transitional tastes that value noble materials. The top surface is a thick slab of unusual pink and gray marble shaped to turreted front corners and a slight flange at the back. Note the edges have a few chips, see the image gallery for more details. Making up the body of the piece are three spacious drawers outlined in brass trim that glide easily using brass bail pulls; one key is present to share between the locking drawers. The drawers are of excellent proportion to offer elegant storage for clothes, linens, or other household essentials. Fluting on the turreted corners of flows into turned, tapering legs lifting the case from the floor–also ringed in brass.
