Description
A French Provençale Directoire period two-drawer commode with banded inlay from the late 18th century. This French two-drawer commode was born in the mid-1790s, in the Provence region of Southern France. Featuring a rectangular top with rounded corners and edges, the chest comprises two drawers, decorated with banded inlay of lighter color on the surround, forming a diamond shape around the central escutcheon. Creating a perfectly harmonious facade, the scalloped apron is also adorned with a delicately inlaid motif. The ensemble is raised on four elegant saber legs. With its refined Silhouette and distinguished design, this French Directoire commode will bring great charm to any room.
