French Early 20th Century Mahogany Louis XVI Style Enfilade
-
Description
Dimensions: 39 ⅝” H x 79 ¾” W x 20 ⅞” D
This early 20th century Louis XVI style mahogany enfilade was transformed (more recently) with a hand-painted, scraped blue finish that beautifully contrasts the linear formality of the case. The layers of pigment suggest Gustavian inspiration using a lightly patinated faux finishing effect to reveal slate-blue paint underneath the surface recalling a pale shade of Wedgwood. Projecting with a slight breakfront and turreted corners, the storage is organized into three drawers across the frieze and three cabinets below, unpainted on the interior, behind working locks. The apron offers a wide drawer in center and two smaller drawers on the left and right, using Neoclassical brass ring pulls. In the main body, three storage compartments are enclosed by paneled doors using separate locks and keys to open the left, right, and center doors together. Inside, each compartment has an adjustable shelf, 14 ¾” deep, on sawtooth brackets. Turned wood legs with fluted pattern are tipped in brass sabot feet to elevate the piece from the floor. Cleaned and tightened, this buffet is ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images. -
