A handsome solid walnut Empire armoire, made in France during the 19th Century. This armoire features a pair of large bookmatched and paneled doors on hidden hinges, flanked by columns capped with gilt bronze ormolu at its capitals and bases. The doors open with a functioning lock and key to a large storage cabinet with two fixed shelves at 17”D. You’ll find two inlay hearts suggesting this armoire may have been a wedding gift. The whole sits on thick turned feet and boasts a patina only possible with age. Simple in style but solid in construction this armoire is perfect for your interior. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax this antique is ready for your immediate use. Be sure to view the detailed images. Circa 1830’s.
