Description
This rare pair of bedside or side tables was designed by Swedish designer Halvdan Pettersson and produced by Tibro Möbelfabrik in Sweden during the 1950s. The tables feature a distinctive round form, measuring 37 centimeters in diameter (14.6 inches) and standing 55.5 centimeters tall (21.9 inches). Their construction showcases dark-stained mahogany, contrasted by white artificial leather that wraps the curved front and sides. The leather is secured with evenly spaced brass rivets, creating a decorative trim that adds texture and visual interest to the piece.
Each table includes two drawers, fitted with brass drop handles that complement the riveted detailing. The top surfaces are finished in matching dark-stained mahogany, bordered by a raised brass edge that enhances the tables’ refined appearance. Supporting the structure are slender, tapered legs capped with brass feet, which contribute both elegance and stability, reinforcing the mid-century Scandinavian modern aesthetic.
The tables are in good vintage condition, showing minor wear consistent with their age. Their compact, rounded proportions and thoughtful combination of materials embody the functional elegance and craftsmanship characteristic of Scandinavian design during this period, balancing simplicity with decorative detail.
