Description
This is a classic Art Deco bar cabinet likely dating back to the 1930s or 1940s. This style is highly sought after by collectors for its "Hollywood Regency" glamour and the distinctive craftsmanship of that era. Here is a description of what makes this piece special:
The etched glass doors depicting stylized women with fans are quintessential Art Deco motifs and represent the "Flapper" or "Jazz Age" elegance of the period.
The use of mosaic or tiled mirrors on the back and sides was designed to catch the light and make the glasses and liquor bottles inside appear as a sparkling and endless collection.
The contrast between the fine dark wood and the light grid structure of the base is typical of high-end Italian furniture.
The fact that the interior lights are still functioning is a huge plus in terms of value as this represented the height of modern luxury in the 1930s. Furthermore, the base with its diamond-grid sides and the fluted handle-like detail in the center suggests a sophisticated design.
This is not a simple mass-produced piece but has a decidedly architectural feel like a true architect's project.
The small drawers at the bottom with round knobs probably made of Bakelite were likely intended for storing toothpicks, napkins, or cocktail stirrers. - More Information
