Italian Mid-Century Tall Sideboard or Bar Cabinet , 1950s

$ 7,330
  • Description
    Italian mid-century sideboard with bar cabinet function, produced in the 1950s–1960s. The piece is structured in three sections and combines storage, display, and drop-front writing surfaces.

    Each of the three upper compartments features a drop-front door with lock, opening to form a horizontal surface. The central section includes a shaped glass shelf, typical of bar cabinets designed to accommodate bottles and glassware, while the lateral compartments are fitted with wooden shelves for general storage.

    Below, a series of drawers runs across the full width, fitted with small square brass knobs with a slightly concave profile, characteristic of Italian high-end cabinetry of the period.

    The cabinet stands on slender, splayed legs connected by a light X-shaped stretcher, a design solution used to visually reduce the volume and give a sense of lightness to a substantial piece.

    The top is veneered in a herringbone pattern, converging toward the center, framed by a solid wood border with mitered corners, reflecting a high level of cabinetmaking.

    Condition: very good vintage condition. Minor signs of use consistent with age. Structure solid, surfaces well preserved.
