Jacobean Oak Coffer

Description
A fine example of the predecessor of the chest of drawers. These were used in the 16th and 17th century British Isles to store clothing and valuables. Kept in a bedroom and today often placed at the end of a bed. Wonderfully carved and all original. Hinged paneled top over a conforming case.
