Pair French Hand Stitched Leather & Brass Faux Bamboo Commodes by Jacques Adnet
-
Description
A Rare and Important Pair of French Midcentury Modern Neoclassical hand stitched leather and brass faux bamboo cabinets, dressers, commodes or chest of drawers by Jacques Adnet, circa 1955. It is rare to find a pair of faux bamboo and hand stitched leather commodes by the French design master, Jacques Adnet. Each piece is a masterpiece of exquisite materials and timeless design with beautiful form and lines. They are subtly balanced with muted black leather and burnished brass coloration which creates a dynamic, yet subdued effect. The pieces are outfitted with brass faux bamboo legs, brass inset flush mounted drawer pulls and back plates, brass corner moldings and set on stunning brass ball feet. The soldi brass elements are contrasted and compliment the deep, dark leather. Each is entirely covered in black leather and has hand-stitched leather drawers and side supports. In all, they create the perfect balance between darkness and reflection, form and function and the Modern and the Neoclassical.
