Description
A handsome late eighteenth-century chest of drawers from the Alsace region of France, crafted in pine and retaining its original painted surface. This piece exemplifies the honest construction and restrained regional character typical of Alsatian furniture of the period. The soft, timeworn paint displays a beautifully developed patina, with subtle wear and tonal variation that speak to age and authenticity rather than later restoration.
The chest opens with two large drawers, offering generous storage within a clean and well-balanced form. The simple façade is accented by original ring pulls, reinforcing the functional elegance of the design. Raised on short legs, the proportions remain grounded while allowing the piece to sit comfortably within both traditional and modern interiors.
The pine structure remains solid and in good overall condition. Its understated presence, authentic surface, and strong architectural lines make this chest well suited for use in a bedroom, entry, or living space, where genuine eighteenth-century character is desired without excess ornamentation.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
