Description
Louis Majorelle French Art Nouveau Signed Cabinet, Inlays and Ironwork
Offered for sale is a fine French Art Nouveau cabinet by Louis Majorelle (French, 1859-1926). This cabinet is stamped "Majorelle Nancy" in the lower right side of the cabinet. It features drawers, an open shelf, and a hand-wrought iron mounted glass door which when open will reveal a missing glass shelf. The Macassar ebony wood and rosewood has been professionally refinished. The cabinet also features inlays in bone and mother-of-pearl. We are in the process of obtaining quotes to replace the original fabric-lined interior with mirror and a glass shelf to update this cabinet for use as a bar cabinet or as a curio cabinet at the discretion of the buyer. We are presenting this cabinet in its current state prior to the full restoration to allow buyers an opportunity to purchase as is.
Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. The interior corner of the original glass panel center door is damaged as shown. The original interior lined silk fabric shows wear commensurate with age and use. The interior can be mirrored, and the door glass replaced at the buyer's discretion. -
