Description
A beautiful and rare pair of nightstands in walnut, walnut burl, and glass, Molteni production, 1950s
These walnut nightstands feature an elegant and distinctive design with an unexpected visual impact. Their slender legs extend outward from the structure, seemingly defying gravity with their oblique positioning—an effect made possible by the meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful design process. Both pieces bear the original Molteni manufacturer’s label, a brand that remains active today and, in the 1950s, was known for its modern and, at times, provocative design solutions.
A closer look reveals the refined details that define these nightstands. The drawers showcase a beautifully figured walnut burl veneer, lending warmth and sophistication to the composition. This elegant wood grain is echoed in a small vertical panel, further enhancing the design’s visual appeal. The glass top, finished with mirrored edges, lightens the overall aesthetic, adding a touch of refinement.
These nightstands exemplify the excellence of Italian craftsmanship—a seamless blend of artisanal skill, design ingenuity, and tradition. Professionally restored, they are in excellent overall condition, with only minor signs of age.
