            Description

Highboard designed by Paolo Buffa, Italy, 1956. The piece features a green Alpine marble top resting on a case in walnut wood and birch burl, creating a refined contrast of materials and tones. The cabinet doors are decorated with brass floral inlays, demonstrating precise workmanship and attention to detail. Supported by four tapered legs ending in brass sabots, the design combines structural lightness with stability. Inside, the cabinet offers functional storage space with adjustable shelving. This highboard reflects the quality and elegance of Italian furniture making in the 1950s, where traditional craftsmanship was integrated with modern proportions and material sophistication. A well-preserved example of Buffa’s work, representing his distinct approach to refined, balanced design and the collaboration between architects and master artisans in postwar Milan.
