Description
A fine and important Louis XV style bombé chest of drawers designed by Paul Sormani from France circa 1885. This exceptional chest employs gorgeous mahogany veneers with floral marquetry to accentuate the voluptuous shape. Please note the original Breche d’Alep marble top which follows the sensuous outline of the commode. All of the gilt bronze mounts are original including the pulls on the two drawers and their accompanying escutcheons, the four sabot feet, the bold asymmetrical ormolu mount beneath the drawers and the two cascading mounts on the left and right front vertical corners. Signed:" PAUL SORMANI 10 RUE CHARLOT PARIS"
