Description
Paolo Buffa (1903-1970) was one of Italy’s most refined furniture architects of the mid-20th century, trained under Gio Ponti and deeply embedded in Milan’s elite design culture from 1920s to 1960s. Working closely with master ebanisti such as Mario Quarti, Fratelli Turri around Milan. This exceptional 1940s post-war cabinet is constructed in walnut in a three part modular design with an upper cabinet, lower cabinet and open central cabinet. Buffo used signature reeded (grissinato) doors to create shadow and depth. Though opening side to side - each door has an integrated round pull that does not follow functional logic (these are top centered) to emphasize surface rather than reveal mechanism.
