Description
embodying the refined craftsmanship and understated luxury of postwar Italian design. The architectural case is comprised of nine individual compartments arranged in a striking geometric composition, creating a sculptural yet highly functional form. The upper six compartments feature mirrored interiors, clear glass shelves, and luminous gold gilt glass bottoms, lending depth, reflection, and an elegant display quality ideal for barware, collectibles, or decorative objects. The center compartment is fitted with a fall-front door, while the upper left and right compartments open to reveal fitted drawers for additional storage.
The cabinet is further distinguished by an inset top of gold glass and rests upon substantial cast bronze legs, adding richness, stability, and visual weight to the design. Each door panel is adorned with hand-painted grisaille oil paintings, every scene uniquely depicting hunting subjects rendered with remarkable detail and artistry, elevating the cabinet from functional furnishing to collectible work of art.
Retaining its original key, marked with a “V” within the handle—possibly referencing Vittorio or Ernesto Valabrega—the piece may be attributed to the celebrated Turin cabinetmaking tradition associated with the Valabrega family. This extraordinary cabinet combines artistry, craftsmanship, and rarity, making it a remarkable statement piece for sophisticated interiors or distinguished collections. -
