Description
A refined and highly functional Brazilian modern credenza designed by Sergio Rodrigues, dating to the 1960s. Crafted from solid Brazilian rosewood (jacarandá), the piece exemplifies Rodrigues’ ability to balance robust construction with understated elegance and practical design.
The credenza features a well-proportioned architectural composition, with four individual cabinet doors arranged below a row of four drawers, offering generous and versatile storage. The cabinets are secured by two original locks that simultaneously engage all four doors—a thoughtful functional detail characteristic of mid-century Brazilian cabinetry. The drawers above provide additional organization while maintaining a clean, horizontal rhythm across the façade.
Resting on four petite, subtly tapered legs, the credenza maintains a light, elegant presence despite the richness of the rosewood. The wood has been expertly refinished, revealing a deep, warm tone and beautifully articulated grain, with the natural veining of the jacarandá adding depth and character throughout. The doors are discreetly marked with the number “9,” as shown in the images.
The piece presents in excellent vintage condition, with only minor age-appropriate wear consistent with its period. Timeless and versatile, this credenza functions equally well as a sideboard, media console, or storage piece, seamlessly integrating into both modern and eclectic interiors. -
