Description
This piece belongs to a collection of unique cast concrete cabinets and furniture by the artist Stefan Buxbaum. The works evoke a striking contrast between the hardness of concrete and the sensibility of nature, achieved through the imprint of plant specimens embedded into their surfaces.
The Wilde Karde cabinet, crafted from solid concrete using a lightweight casting technique, demonstrates a high level of technical precision and craftsmanship. The corpus is cast in a single piece, creating a seamless and monolithic form that emphasizes its architectural presence. Across its surfaces, impressions of wild teasel (Dipsacus fullonum) are embedded as permanent reliefs. These botanical imprints lend the piece a tactile, organic texture, softening the material’s industrial character with a subtle reference to natural growth. The cabinet includes three concrete shelves and steel feet.
Buxbaum’s approach recalls echoes of Art Deco and Jugendstil, reinterpreted through a contemporary material language in concrete. The result is a timeless object that bridges past and future, nature and architecture.
Suitable for OUTDOOR USE, the piece functions equally as storage furniture and as a sculptural statement within contemporary interiors or landscapes. -
