Description
A sideboard designed by Studio B.B.P.R. (G.L. Banfi; L.B. Belgiojoso; E. Peresutti; E.N. Rogers) and made by Olivetti, Ivrea.
Materials: Sheet steel, tubular steel (painted olive green and black), black plastic, clear glass, black-coloured vinyl.
This 'Spazio' cabinet, designed by Studio BBPR for Olivetti in the early 1960s, is a great example of the Italian company's commitment to innovative Industrial Design. The cabinet's steel frame and vinyl tabletop are carefully crafted to provide both durability and aesthetic appeal.
The soft green/grey color of the metal base creates a subtle yet striking contrast with the black vinyl tabletop, while the small, circular feet in black contribute to the cabinet's overall elegance. The three compartments of drawers and the container with two sliding glasses offer storage space, and the unique patina adds to the piece's character and history.
The 'Spazio' series, of which this cabinet is a part, was awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro Award in 1962, highlighting its significance in the world of Industrial Design.
